Best Blogs of the Week

This week’s blogs all take a specific stance within the first three sentences. We think that leads to effective FA support in thought leadership especially when intertwined onto current events/topics.

  • Columbia – This post paints the case for global emerging markets eloquently.
  • Oppenheimer – The author has a clear opinion on one of the world’s most important currency.
  • Wells Fargo – This post is a Q&A related to allocating within a fixed income allocation and then relative to equities.

Happy new year. The fiscal cliff continues to dominate financial news and industry blogs. The consensus is that the going off the cliff (a) has been averted and (b) only for a short time. So it’ll continue to be news.

This week’s posts (5!) are a great examples for providing helpful materials as advisors reach out to clients to discuss 2013 and beyond.

  • BlackRock – All signs point to exchange-traded products continuing to be top of mind with investors. This post provides  a succinct set of trends.
  • BlackRock (2) – This post provides five investment ideas for 2013. Agree or not, it’s really easy to use as a conversation starter.
  • Oppenheimer – This post is on the longer side, but makes a compelling case for equities.
  • Pioneer – The single, most interesting post related to the fiscal cliff.
  • Wells Fargo – Nothing’s better than well-organized bullets. This post has them.

Best Blogs of the Week

This week includes three posts, only one on the fiscal cliff.

  • AllianceBernsteinThis  is the fiscal cliff post of the week. I think the added layer of business and consumer confidence is helpful in framing the discussions happening across the US between advisor and investor.
  • JPMorgan – Remember the Greek debt crisis? Seems like many news cycles ago but the debt issue continues to loom. This  post provides an update and one important action likely to take place.
  • Oppenheimer – I love the contrarian angle here. Saying European equities look attractive is very contrarian. (There’s even a contrarian comment already.)

With the election complete, content can focus on more varied topics than who will be President and what that means for advisors. We have our first 2013 prognostication and other posts.

  • BlackRock -Thinking about asset allocation in 2013? This post gives two scenarios to consider.
  • Oppenheimer – The first post-election post was also the most interesting and specific.
